David Yurman (born October 12, 1942) is the founder of the David Yurman jewelry company. His signature jewelery line is comprised of cable jewelry, made from twisted, sterling silver ropes. Yurman’s elegant designs are well known in the world of fine jewelry and Yurman is fiercely possessive of his signature cable styles. His designs feature sterling silver, 18-karat gold, gemstones and pearls. Color has been a hallmark of the Yurman brand since its inception.
In addition to a complete line of necklaces, rings, earrings, bracelets and watches for women, the Yurman brand now includes a men’s line designed by Evan Yurman, David’s son. The men’s line includes cufflinks, studsets, bracelets, necklaces and chains, rings, timepieces, keychains and moneyclips. The children’s collection, called Cable Kids, includes earrings including birthstone earrings, bracelets and charm bracelets and birthstone necklaces. Yurman believes in getting fans started at an early age with a silver rattle, teething ring, tooth cup and double handled silver cup.
Established in 1979, the company is internationally recognized as one of America's leading fine jewelers. Yurman, along with his wife Sybil, have sought, in the company's words, "to fuse art, fashion and fine jewelry." The company is also notable for its use of supermodels in its advertising campaigns. Past campaigns have included models such as Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, and Amber Valletta. In 2006, Naomi Watts replaced Valleta as the face of the brand.
